January 2007: Fishing

Friday January 26, 2007

Fishing over the last two months has been pretty good. The Yellowfin Tuna arrived early and we’ve had catches of up to 10 smaller fish on our Sportfishing charters. There are also some much bigger Yellowfin around. The two biggest recently weighing in at 54.5kg (119lb) and 55.5kg (121lb).

Yellow Fin Tuna and Mahi Mahi fish caught latelyThere have also been a good number of Mahi Mahi caught and sometimes the passages are boiling with Skip Jack Tuna up to 15 fish being caught in a session.

On the Light Tackle trips we’ve been catching mostly small Spanish Mackerel, the occasional Giant Trevally and as the water has been warming up we have had more action on poppers with Bluefin Trevally and Coral Trout feeding up on top of the reefs.

Check out our fishing section in the Photo Gallery for latest additions.
