January 2007: Scuba Diving

Friday January 26, 2007

We have been busy with a lot of PADI Courses over the festive season and the lovely weather and calm seas have made diving for beginners a real pleasure.

There has been a huge school of Barracuda in residence at the Supermarket and we’ve been seeing Eagle Rays on almost every trip to the Outer Limits. Our guests are loving dives to Dunk’s Canyon—it has lovely drop off covered in coral and swarms of reef fish, and on almost every dive there we’ve been seeing White Tips and Turtles. Dunk’s is also home to school of about twenty fabulous Bump Head Parrotfish.

The best news of all is that Tokoriki Island Resort’s fringing reef (where we do night dives and intro dives etc) and our Giant Clam Site—Magic Mushrooms have been made into a marine reserve. A great reef system should get even better!
