Monuriki Garden Dive Site

Sunday August 26, 2007

This year we’ve had more northerly winds than usual so we’ve been visiting Monuriki Garden quite often (which is very protected from northerlies). Not only is it an awesome location topside—lying just offshore from Tom Hank’s Cast Away Island, but it’s also been giving us some great dives. There are huge fields of Garden Eels, a colony of very photogenic Christmas Tree Worms and we see White Tip Reefs sharks and Hawskbill Turtles almost every time. On recent dives we’ve encountered a very big but docile Tawny Nurse Shark, large Marbled Rays and the bizarre looking and rare Humpnosed Unicorn Fish.
